The hilarious irony of recovering my password for this forum in 30 seconds. Compared to weeks on end of not being able to login with my MC account either through the launcher or Mojang Account login page. Changes password _many_ times. It tells me the password has been reset but the subsequent login reports "Invalid Credentials" (launcher) or "Unknown username or password (web site).
Had the account since beta. Play it on and off for years. Tried to buy a brand new account and it failed during the login with new account step. So you have to manually login with userid/passwd - nope! Seems like auth server is buggered for my IP....guessing.
Sent an e-mail to MC support but, well, this is my second ticket two weeks after my first ticket. They have not responded to the first ticket yet. Hard to type with all the gold and diamond rings on I guess.....
On the office chance this has afflicted anyone else and you have a suggestion other than contact the woeful support, please let me know what you did to fix it. Thanks.
Your login is being throttled, which will prevent you from logging in.
You will have to wait 3 hours without logging in for it to reset.
Try not to send Mojang multiple mails, it will just cause them to reply slower as they have more messages to sift through, they normally reply to mail in 1-2 working days, but currently have a backlog, see https://help.mojang.com/customer/portal/articles/359446
Yes, I was using my full e-mail address. If I am being throttled why would attempting to buy a new account using a completely different e-mail not work either?
But if after waiting out 3 hours your still having issues wait for Mojang to reply to your mail, they are the ONLY people with account access and ONLY they can fix account issues
Thanks. Can you point me to any article where Mojang/MC support talk about this throttling? I just find it odd that all the knowledge base articles on problems logging in do not mention it. It seems like something that could alleviate a head scratching for customers if it was put into the relevant articles.
Its not listed on their help page, i know about the system from helping on the #minecrafthelp irc channel.
Its anti brute force hacking, too many failed attempts cause the account to be locked out so that any other attempts just fail no matter if right or not.
it doesn't say its throttled as that just tells hackers etc its locked out.
