I have loaded Forge 1.8 into my MC setup and put a number of mods for 1.8 it there. Most of them have run successfully. This is good. I have a 1.8 Forge profile, a Latest Release profile and a Snapshots profile, and can easily switch between them as I sign on.
However I have determined that most of the Mods I'm interested in are for 1.7.10. So I downloaded Forge for 1.7.10 and created a new profile for my MC game. I tried loading a smaller mod for 1.7.10 and put it in the Mods folder but the game/profile would not run. It gave me the message "cpw.mods.fml.common.LoaderException: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: net.minecraft.src.floatingtempals"
I removed the mod and tried to run MC with Forge 1.7.10 and got the same message.
Am I supposed to have a separate version of MC loaded to run a different folder to run a different version of MC with mods? Any other suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong? MC with Forge 1.8 still runs no problem.
So I tried loading and running MultiMC. It's loaded, but I'm not sure how to get it running.
The first problem is that it is telling me that I have 32-bit Java loaded, which is confusing when I know I have 64-bit loaded.
Then if I try to create a new instance without a modpack (see below) it tells me: Failed to create instance Seven Point Ten: Failed to create the instance directory.
If I try to create a new instance with a modpack there are no modpacks to find.

How? I find it quite easy actually; just install forge, make a new profile with a different directory, and put your mods in there.

Where am I going with this?
