Theres no log. I dont get an error, i just load up minecraft and it says 3 mods (the ones that installed with forge) so it doesnt recognize any new ones

I managed to get a few running those are the ones listed up there. But if I add other ones 99% don't come up recognized and 1% have errors show up in minecraft.

I have minecraft fully installed, forge fully installed. I have no minecraft.jar, I know i don't need the bin folder.
My problem? No matter what I put in the mods folder, jar or zip or unzipped, none of them register in the game! Even the popular mo' animals doesn't.
I used to install mods all the time but then I stopped playing for a while (that was dumb) and now with the new updates I can't get it to work.
I've googled everything I can. I feel so stupid >.<
Does anyone know what my issue is?
