Hello, and thank you for responding for whoever so does.
My problem includes a problem I have seen a lot in looking for answers, but no actual true answer or solution was ever found.
When I play Mincecraft, both sides of the game client are cut off, making it impossible for me to see compasses, clocks, and more so the new mini-hand held maps. My screen resolution is 1280x1024, nearly a square, and I heard Minecraft is meant for widescreens? Anyways, I wanted to know if there was an actual fix to this, or if I have to continue in this kind of game breaking thing. Or if there are possible fixes being implemented in Minecraft 1.9 to fix this bug.
Mainly, I also heard that Minecraft isn't full screen compatible, kind of supported as I see how the standard resolution works perfectly in window (something that isn't to my taste). I'm also trying not to have gigantic black borders on my screen if you know what I mean by lowering my resolution. '
Ill show you pictures. (Note, This Problem is on All Versions of Minecraft For Me)
your monitor is 4:3 format, but minecraft is 16:9(widescreen), so when the game is running in windowed mode it can use a 16:9 screen size, but have to drop to a 4:3 format, hence cutting off the sides.

Fix is to get a widescreen monitor
Thank you for the help. I kind of hoped there was a fix for this specific screen, but if no one else has anything like that, I guess getting a widescreen will be the best option.
Also, will doing so affect my other games in a negative way? (IK know impossible answer, but mainly, would such a change affect a lot of games, or are most mainly meant for widescreens/are good with them?)
most people use widescreen monitors nowadays, so most (all?) games support it as standard, how they deal with a none widescreen layout will depend one how each game was made, but tbh having more screen to use is never a bad thing, once you uprgrade you'll wonder how you ever managed with a none widescreen monitor
