Ok I am trying to get a mod that needs me to delete meta-inf inside minecraft. When I try to delete it says C:\Users\Desktop\Minecraft.exe: the archive is corrupt
I closed minecraft and restarted my computer and I still have the problem
If a mod is asking to delete the menu inf folder then that mods instructions are very out dated. Mods have not needed to do that since 1.5
No, that's only for Forge mods; my own mods (all for 1.6 and later), are non-Forge and require that META-INF be deleted, and while trying to directly run the jar gives me an error that it is corrupt you do not run Minecraft by directly executing the jar, but through the launcher (on an unmodded jar nothing happens if I try to run it).
Here are instructions on how to install jar mods in the new launcher (note that this is actually what installers do; they just automate this process):
I just noticed that the OP said that Minecraft.exe was corrupt - they apparently tried opening the executable (.exe) file that starts the launcher with a zip utility, not the Minecraft.jar file (since 1.6 it is in the version folder and named after the version; e.g. .minecraft\versions\1.7.10\1.7.10.jar).

It said the mod was for 1.7.10

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?

ModeratorI stand corrected and have learnt something new.
Question now i guess is what mod is causing the issue?
