OK one day. i wanted to run shaders on my old laptop. so i tried running SEUS Ultra Shaders. One Odd Thing is that. When i opened my city world. i only saw water effects. but no sun reflection or shadows. very unusual. so i could run shaders on Low Settings, Optifine, FPS Plus, and BetterFPS. plus i have 37 mods :b
I just took the Minecraft Noob test! Check out what I scored. Think you can beat me?!

Upgrade your ram. To run SEUS, it is recommended that you have a good amount of ram and a nVidia graphics card, preferably one of the latest ones (Not the Titan graphics cards unless you don't mind the energy consumption). Since there are no shadows and such, do you have an Intel integrated graphics card? If you do, don't use SEUS. USe something else like Chocapic's Shaders or Sildur's Shaders.
2) HP does not support upgrades for the Stream Series Laptops

RAM is overrated; in fact, the shaders mod (the basis for SEUS) even tells you NOT to allocate more memory!
- Java heap size
This can be set in Minecraft Launcher - Edit Profile - JVM Arguments -Xmx1024M or -Xmx1G is usually enough [that's the default allocation]. 2048M is plenty, depending on render distance and mods. Don't set it too high.
ShadersMod and OpenGL requires a lot of memory outside java heap [this often comes around to bite people who allocate insane amounts of RAM to the game; open Task Manager and compare the memory usage to what the game reports with F3].
Make sure you have enough memory remaining outside java heap.
Also, in my experience, you don't get strange glitches and artifacts with insufficient memory; the game just stutters to a halt and crashes with an out of memory error (Java heap space) or displays a "Minecraft has run out of memory" error screen (Java process space; this is mostly seen on 32 bit computers like I have when there is too much heap space allocated and not enough left to other Java processes. On 64 bit computers you'll get disk swapping and a massive systemwide performance drop when physical RAM is depleted).
Also, I'm wondering what sort of GPU they have - sounds like Intel integrated graphics since they have an Intel CPU and don't mention a GPU (usually discrete when they do). From what I've heard you aren't even supposed to be able to run shaders at all with such a GPU, and seeing that they are on Tiny render distance with only 10-25 FPS it isn't worth it (NB: You need to be able to run on at least 10 render distance in 1.7.4+ to avoid bugs, such as this one). The CPU also doesn't meet the minimum system requirements, so there's that (note - with only 2 GB of system RAM I highly recommend lowering the memory allocation to 512 MB (change -Xmx1G to -Xmx512M), which is enough for the lower render distances you are able to play on without lag; here is an example of somebody going overboard with memory allocation; check out how much is actually being used).
ik. its very odd that i get a stable 13 FPS. no crashes or lag spikes. also i only alloctated 1GB RAM to minecraft. btw my CPU is very poor. every time i run minecraft my CPU Usage reaches 80-94% also my laptop gets hot.

It may be time to face the ugly truth that, your laptop may be becoming obsolete. If you wish to buy a new desktop, feel free to head over to the computer buying/building advice sub-forum where they can build you the best PC within a budget you give.
Let me clear chat up as much as I can. (Yeah right) First of all upgrade your RAM dude. 2gb of ram? Dude that's what you call a potato. Update your graphics driver and your CPU. Then we'll talk. I'm also sorry if I was being rude which I think I wasn't. I do know this is a bit off topic but it's uncalled for that a couple people in this chat were arguing like little kids.
I don't know how much RAM is needed. I just have 32gb of RAM and it works fine but 16gb of RAM may be fine idk.
My computer has only 3 GB of RAM, yet while playing modded Minecraft with 768 MB allocated it only uses 2 GB of that (total, including the OS); the game itself allocates as little as 200-250 MB to start with if I don't use -Xms to allocate 100% of the maximum (this gradually increases over time but only reached about 500 MB after a few hours of playing; using -Xms leads to less garbage collection lag spikes early on though). A bigger limitation in my case is having a 32 bit OS since a single process can't use more than 2 GB for itself, which causes the "Minecraft has run out of memory" error I mentioned, despite F3 showing plenty of free memory, but that only occurs if too much is allocated (way too much will cause a JVM initialization error) and as mentioned it doesn't need that much, even with shaders, which mainly increases the memory used by OpenGL, which is external to the Java heap, hence the advice not to allocate too much. See again this example of somebody allocating 16 GB to the game - which only allocated 465 MB, and on 16 chunk render distance in a 1.9 snapshot (i.e. a less optimized version which eats memory like no tomorrow). Optifine also tells you why allocating more memory won't help unless it actually needs it.
The Main reason i said how my laptop can run shaders is because my computer is low end (which should crash) and my Dell Inspiron 3847 crashes when i use shaders. its even more powerful than my laptop! p.s gunna get a new laptop!

OS: Windows 8.1 64-bit with Bing
Processor: Intel Celeron N2840 2.16 Ghz (2.58 Turbo)
RAM: 2GB 1.89 Usable
HDD: 30GB
Screen: 1366x768 720p 60Hz
With Shaders i Usually get 10-25 FPS
Without Shaders i get 20-240 FPS

Curse PremiumIn that case, get a different shader pack. If you read the Seus page, it said that it needs a powerful graphics card.

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
