Hi everyone, after searching the internet for hours and having no luck I have finally fixed my LAN issues on my own accord.
(Windows 10, 1.8.8 Minecraft version vanilla LAN)
The problem at hand is LAN not working for those in the same room or house etc. You will get a Java time out error of some kind and be left scratching your head.
There are tons of guides on how to allow exceptions through your windows firewall, while those might work for some it did not for me. You can even try to disable the firewall and that might also work if you're in a secure environment, but alas it didn't for me.
So why wasn't my LAN working any longer? Short answer, it was the Router.
After much fiddling with the wireless router, changing ports, IP's etc. etc. I decide to start googling my router features one by one.
A radio button next to the feature "Wireless Isolation Service" had been filled in. When enabled, this service blocks all communications with other devices on the same network, or in other words 'LAN OFF'.
After unchecking the radio button LAN not only works but my server pops right up on the list. Awesome.
Hopefully this helps someone. Cheers!
(You'll need to log into your router via browser and change these settings.)
