So I went to go attempt (for the fiftieth time) to download a mod. I know that some mods need something like Modloader or Forge to allow the mods to work in Minecraft. Either my computer is too old, I don't have a good enough graphics driver, I need to buy the full version of Minecraft, or I'm just doing something wrong.
I downloaded Minecraft Forge and opened up the Minecraft.jar file (First in B1 which normally works well, but it failed so I tried again in 7zip), and I opened up the Modloader.zip and attempted to copy the class files into the Minecraft.jar file (like shown in many videos), but every single time I tried, it said it was either unable to create an archive (B1), or it was currently being used by other processes (7zip). So I then decided to close everything except for the two pages of 7zip I had open and tried it again. Still said it was being used by other processes. I've been searching for hours to find a solution, or another way to do this, but couldn't find anything. I'm hoping maybe it will work when I buy the full version of Minecraft? Or maybe I need a new computer? If I do need a new computer, the soonest I'll be able to get one is my birthday. I'm currently using the free version of Minecraft 1.2.5, and absolutely about to give up. If nobody can find a good solution, that's cool, I can wait to try again or have my friend come over and do it for me if possible. xD Heck, maybe I'm just not nerdy enough (jk)

Mods don't work on demo Minecraft. Also there's no such thing as "free Minecraft 1.2.5". You're most likely running a cracked versions, in which case read forum rules. No support for cracks here.
And once you get the game, read instructions which are not 2+ years outdated. Since Minecraft 1.6.4 there is NO manual jar file editing involved in mod installation.
I did not have a cracked game, I currently have bought the game, and there actually was at the time. I don't know how, but I don't want anyone here to think I had a "cracked" version when I don't know how to do that, so I'll change the topic. I do have the game bought, but only one mod shows up, and Forge and the mod I downloaded were for the correct version of Minecraft. If you can't already tell I'm not very good with computers, so this was probably a tiny stupid mistake that I didn't understand how to fix.
