Running on a Windows 7 laptop (64 bit). Ran Minecraft 1.7.? fine about a year ago. Decided to boot it up and there is a new version, so I downloaded it (1.8.8 I believe). Get to the launch screen, try to hit "Play", screen goes away for a moment and then comes back with a crash report that redirects me to a page that says I have a Pixel Acceleration error. I looked that error up online and everything said to update your video drivers. So I did that. Same error. Checked my profile... everything is vanilla. Saw one option said "JVM Arguments", so I tried that. No change... still get the Pixel Acceleration error.
So... the crash report directed me to run a dxdiag and post the results. Here it is...
You may need to remove the old intel and AMD drivers first as they seem to be a little glitched,
as you can see the dxdiag lists 2 manufactures for the one device
I have to say that I didn't follow the steps exactly. I first attempted to run Intel's Driver Update utility. Sadly, it said that it updated the driver, but every time I checked, it still said I was out of date. So I went back and downloaded from the link you provided and now all is working.
Thank you, and how do I mark the thread "Solved"?
