Today I was testing how well my PC runs on different games. On minecraft, I did this by turning all of the video/graphics settings to maximum, with 32-chunk render distance in an amplified world in 1080p fullscreen. Everything was fine, but after about 2 minutes, my FPS was very unstable. It constantly fell from 400 FPS to 0 FPS about once a second. Minecraft is the only game this happens with, as I've tested other games that use a lot more power, like GTA V and Smite. Does anyone know why this is happening?

Just not powerful enough. I have almost that exact same build(only difference is motherboard) and it just isn't enough. Minecraft might be capable of being resource light and efficient, but set the settings high and it becomes crazy system intensive. It really does use more resources then games like GTA V.
