what antivirus do you use?
McAfee - I also uninstalled Java and that didn't help.
Remove mcafee, its the issue and the only current known fix is removal
Are you sure this isn't just http://hopper.minecraft.net/help/special-characters/

could be too, though mcafee is a known to cause problems when it comes to minecraft aswell
