I tried enchanting shears today in 1.8.8 and no enchants show up in the enchanting table. I also couldn't enchant them with the anvil and a book. I had plenty of levels and lapis to do all of this but no luck. Is anyone else experiencing this?
I came seeking the same answer. I have tried multiple times to enchant shears and they are not recognized. Did you figure out what is up with this. I'm in a server Realm
This was never possible... the only way is to put enchants in shears its using the anvil (enchanted books, EDIT: and in 1.8.8 its normal - at least in my world).

Gonna extend. It works like always and its not bugged --> only using the anvil, never the table.
But what enchant are you trying to put in yours? Shears can only receive silky touch, unbreaking and efficiency... maybe that's your problem.

Sounds like a bug, it says they are enchantable but it never said enchantability was removed.
