I own a Logitech g430 7.1 surround headset, and among the many problems I seem to be having with it, one is that Minecraft's sound doesn't work very well.
Many sounds, such as footsteps and doors opening only play in the right-hand speaker. I can fix this by turning the actual surround sound on in Logitech's gaming software, but that also makes the audio crackle and adds an echo (the latter presumably to simulate a surround speaker set in the room).
Is there any way to make Minecraft play nice with a 7.1 headset without turning surround on? A mod, or a configuration, anything at all?
EDIT: It occurs to me that this may be Minecraft detecting that I have surround sound turned on when I don't. So I guess the solution I want is the opposite of my original title. How can I force Minecraft to run in stereo?
