My minecraft recently stopped launching completely. No error screen. No crash log. I would click on the minecraft icon and it would do nothing. I decided to take a look at Task Manager to see if it was running at all. It seems there is no java running at all, even though I clearly have the 64-bit version for my system. I tried to install 32-bit java and BAM, it works. However now my minecraft's performance is terrible. I lag at every moment. I'm frustrated and will gladly take any help to get the 64-bit version to work.

It is possible your old java installation got corrupted. You could try manually deleting all versions of java and then reinstalling java 8 64 bit, and then changing your minecraft profile's settings so that it uses the new install.
I forgot to mention I have tried reinstalling multiple times, but it hasn't worked. And I cannot change my profile settings as minecraft will not open on 64-bit Java.

Never mind, thanks! It worked after I deleted all Java files. There was a corrupt file in Program Files...
