My ig name is Seve4, I came back from lunch today and tried to connect to one of the servers that I play on. Only to see that it was down for maintenance. I tried every server on my server list and had the same problem and same error. I tried restarting the game. No use. I tried restarting my computer. Didn't work. I re-installed Minecraft. I even tried my other account on my other computer! So something must be wrong with my router, modem, or ISP. But I don't know anything about these things! Much less how to fix it. Do you have an idea on how to fix it? I would greatly appreciate it.
The exact error is: Failed to log in: The authentication servers are current down for maintenance.
it's Mojang's authentication servers. It's what stores all the usernames and passwords. It;s just down for maintenance. I think it says that when you try to login to a server. All you can do is wait.
Ok thanks for the info. But what I didnt mention was that I was in a skype call with a bunch of my friends and they were all connected to the server. Any way that changes things?
The same thing happened to me as well shelves before I was on skype qua ing entered the minecraft and not opened has the same problem if you can help ...

Could be that they were on another authentication server that wasn't effected or they were never timed out from the server which happens sometimes.
