A few days ago, I attempted to play Minecraft, but when I selected the launcher, the blue outline of the launcher window came up, my laptop froze, then crashed to a black screen. It was unresponsive to hard starting, forcing me to unplug it. The launcher and Minecraft both work on my older desktop.

Java: I'm guessing here, as I uninstalled Java from my computer (see below) but I think I was running Java 8 Update 51 and Java 7 Update 40-something before i uninstalled it, as well as Java 6.
A MUCH more detailed account of the problem and my attempts to fix it:
Wednesday 7/15/15: Minecraft runs normally. I donated to a server and everything ran without a hitch
Thursday 7/16/15: I attempt to load the Minecraft launcher. The blue outline of the launcher window appears, and my computer freezes. After about 10 seconds, my computer crashes to a black screen. It is still running, but unresponsive to ctr+alt+delete, button mashing, and hard starts, forcing me to unplug it. I think perhaps it was just a glitch, and I restart the computer. Windows presents me with a window saying that "Windows has recovered from a serious error" and asks me if I would like to submit a bug report. I decline. I again attempt to run the launcher, and the same thing happens. I then proceed to burn all remnants of Minecraft, Minecraft forge, resource packs, and anything else to do with Minecraft from the computer. While doing so, I accidentally double click on the forge installer file, and while that loads, my computer crashes as it did above. This led me to believe that there was something wrong with Java.
I restarted my computer, and proceeded to reinstall Minecraft, before doing anything with Java. My computer crashes again while loading the launcher. I then proceed to burn every last remnant of Java from my computer, upon reading that Minecraft no longer needs Java to run. I tried reinstalling Minecraft again after doing this, and running the Minecraft.exe instead of the .msi file, and again, my computer crashes. At this point I decided to sleep on it and worry about this in the morning.
Friday 7/17/15: I resume my battle to fix Minecraft. I defrag my hard drive, before using Window's built in function to "Clean Out Your Hard Disk." My computer gets most of the way through this process, but around 45 minutes into it, it again crashes. Because I wasn't watching the computer do this incredibly boring task, I saw only the end result: the non-responsive black screen. This led me to suspect that perhaps there was a virus on my computer. I ran a full system virus scan, coming up blank.
At this point, I decided to use the last trick up my sleeve: running Minecraft off a usb. I used the first guide found here. I first tested it on my desktop, and it loaded and played fine (though much slower then when run off the hard drive, which was to be expected.) But, when I attempted to run it on my problematic laptop, I again was rewarded with the same black screen. At this point I had completely run out of ideas as to fix this.
Saturday 7/18/15: I write this "bug report."
I do not believe that this is a hardware issue, as I can run my laptop for hours on end without it crashing, as long as I'm running simple things, such as Goggle Chrome or a word processor. At the time of this writing, the laptop has been running for about 3.5 hours, and yesterday, it was running for about 4 hours straight, with no problems. I have run several games via Steam and they run fine. I suspect that this problem may originate somewhere in the OS of my computer, however, that's only my guess and I'm no computer expert.
Things to Note:
While I use the word my laptop, it's not actually mine, I only use "my" for simplicity. The laptop is actually my brother's old laptop. However, he gave it to me, and isn't terribly worried about it breaking. However, I would rather clear anything with him before I actually do it. Also, because of this I can't install any new software.
I have used Minecraft mods in the past (as show above by me delete forge files) however I placed this thread under unmodded due to the fact that the launcher is what's causing problems, not the actual game. If this thread would best be placed under modded support, I would greatly appreciate if someone were to move it for me.
While I do know a fair amount about computers, I'm not terribly comfortable with opening up a laptop that does not belong to me. If at all possible, I would like to refrain from doing so.
The laptop did have some hardware problems in the spring of this year. When booting up, it would have a "fan error" before shutting down. A little compressed air blown on the fan fixed the issue, and I haven't had another fan error since then, and the fan seems to be working.
I have $0 budget for fixing this problem. I should be getting a new computer within the next 6 months, but I would like to be able to play Minecraft on my laptop before then.
Yes, Minecraft does work on my desktop. However, not nearly as well as it did on my laptop. For a performance comparison, my laptop could get 60-80 fps, when my desktop can get roughly 4-10.
I've tired everything I can think of to fix this, except for a clean install of windows and throwing the laptop out the window. I find the clean install to be a tad bit overkill, (and I don't possess the original CD, complicating things,) and I doubt throwing the laptop out the window would help.
Thank you for reading, and any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated.
Windows XP can not run Java 8, only 7 and below, delete/uninstall the Java 8 and 6. I am guessing that it is trying to boot the game with Java 8, which is impossible with XP. Other than that, it should be ok. Try that and let me know what happens.

Since I uninstalled Java, I have to re download it. Upon going to the Java download page, I am completely lost, as there seems to be no version for a 32-bit windows. The options for Java SE Runtime Environment 7u79 for windows are as follows:

Oracle wants me to create an account and give them my phone number, job title, ect to download. Since Minecraft no longer requires Java, could I simply skip this step and re-install minecraft? I originally uninstalled Java because Minecraft no longer needs Java. Or does Minecraft require Java to preform it's first time set up?

Oracle should not ask you for that information. If you're seeing that, you're on a fake.
As for java, the old launcher still requires java to run. The new launcher auto installs its own version of java for itself, but the new launcher has to be manually downloaded from minecraft.net again.
Also, you could be running out of RAM. Try checking your RAM usage while playing.

Also, the problem is not Minecraft, it's launcher. I have downloaded both versions of the launcher (.msi and .exe) numerous times from minecraft.net, and it crashes my computer. The launcher loads a blue outline of its window, with in the top right hand corner of that outline saying "Minecraft Launcher Version X.X.X.X." Then my computer freezes for a moment before crashing to a black screen. When I reboot my computer, it has an error message from windows. Would that error message help solve this problem?
Minecraft worked fine just a few days ago, and now, seemingly randomly, it the launcher has stopped working. I have not even been able to load the launcher since last Wednesday.
