I have rather low FPS on what I consider a high end system, generally, on vanilla minecraft, I get around 50-70 fps on a default world, 90 - 100 fps on a superflat world. The strange part is, no matter what I change my render distance to, it stays around the 50-70 fps mark. I have optifine and it really changes nothing. I have a highly modded minecraft as well that runs about the same fps. So what I really dont get is why its so low, even with the changing settings. Here are my specs:
AMD r9 280x 3GB
AMD FX 6300 3.5 GHz 6-core
8 GB RAM
Any help would be nice. I see people with worse cards than mine with about 200 - 400 FPS or higher on vanilla.
Also the main reason I want an FPS increase is because I want to use shaders but only get around 20-30 FPS max on lower shader mods.
Here is a series of screenshots I took with optifine settings.
Optifine really only changes a little bit of my FPS, as does changing the render distance. Tiny gets the same FPS as Far, and then Extreme takes a small hit on my system.
I only have gotten small changes from changing all my settings.
Yea I actually got the same! My laptop isn't gaming but was supposed to get 150+ fps. and I got 30-40 fps on lowest settings, I just deleted my .minecraft (I copied it from my brother) and made minecraft download it by itself. and it worked! If things didn't work out pretty well, please check my thread on how to increase FPS.
No clue what I did, but now my game is running at a solid 40-60 FPS WITH shaders on. Testing different shaders and they all work well. Although I am getting some drops at around 30FPS, but everything is solid now.
I had the window minimized for about 10 minutes while I was browsing different websites waiting for responses and I open my game up again for it to be running fine.
Oddly enough, the vanilla FPS only increased about 10 FPS

Curse Premiumthis looks like you've limited you're fps, propably vsync or sth like that.
you may try mods like fpsplus or fastcraft to increase your world loading, or you've limited your java's RAM by mistake.
lets wait for the screenshot.

I should also mention the mods I have seem to affect FPS by only a drop of 10 or so, which isn't significant for 140 mods.
I just re downloaded Java to 64-bit. I believe I already had that and there is no difference made in the FPS.
Would there be any way to multithread my java/Minecraft to work better with my 6 cores?
I have messed with most of the features, and this is what gets me the highest FPS. Changing anything else either does nothing or lowers the FPS
Ah I didn't refresh the page after you made the edit. Downloading optifine ultra now, will get back with results.

I changed the Chunk Loading to be multicore, thats the only setting I could find that changed. The FPS didnt improve much, if at all.
Are you playing in windowed mode or fullscreen, and at what resolution?
Everfree Server - A small & friendly survival build server for older 'Crafters.
Fullscreen 1920 x 1080. When I window it and make the window smaller it doesn't effect the FPS at all.
