I recently downloaded the Technic Launcher on to my computer and opened it up, but when I was trying to download a modpack (one with a mod, and one just plain old vanilla), it would take forever to download. Also, when I click on the play button, a window pops up saying an update was found and asking me if I would like to update the pack, even though I just downloaded it. Then, even when I click no, it still seems to download something. When minecraft finally does start, it stays stuck on the window that says MOJANG. While stuck downloading or launching, everything else on my computer froze up, including internet. My brother, using a (cheap) Windows 8 laptop, was able to download the same modpacks quickly and was able to launch vanilla minecraft from it.

Any ideas on what is going on?
Remember it can take quite some time for modpacks to start up (sometimes minutes). Post on the technic forums, they will be able to help you more: http://forums.technicpack.net/
