I would stay still and the land in front of me would load fully. If I moved to the left or to the right, the landscape would reset and reload again. Any sort of movement, even turning around then back causes the land to load up as if the game were just starting.
Perhaps your computer is slow on memory. Try deleting somethings on your pc till you have at least 6GB open.
6 GB? Then explain how I can even play with only 3 GB (total) of memory, and even less allocated to the game (hint - memory is NOT what determines how fast a computer runs, unless you actually run out, then the issue is obvious from the crash report. Some people even think the game lags because it doesn't use all the memory assigned to it - because it doesn't need that much). This is almost certainly some other issue, such as a graphics driver issue (at least in 1.8 there is an issue with AMD graphics cards that makes the game freak out) or possibly a mod or conflict.
Also, if only some of the area is "reloading" (actually, re-rendering; actual chunk loading is completely different from rendering, which is what people usually mean by "chunk loading", which occurs server-side) then it might be due to having Advanced OpenGL enabled, which doesn't work well on some graphics cards (there were such serious issues with rendering in 1.8 that they completely removed it from the game).

I'm playing on 1.7.10.

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
