If LAN games refuse to work, you could try downloading and setting up a dedicated Forge server instance from the Forge installer. Make sure to install the server in an empty folder. Install all the mods in the server as well, start it up (let it through firewall if necessary), and connect to the server instead. Can't guarantee it'll work, but it's worth a shot. If you have trouble setting it up, let me know and I'll try to help you out. You can run the server software on the same machine as you play Minecraft on, but keep in mind that the server uses resources as well besides the game.

I AM NOT YOUR PERSONAL MINECRAFT MOD SUPPORT AGENT, SO PLEASE DO NOT PM ME ABOUT PROBLEMATIC MODS THAT ARE NOT MINE. If you're having trouble/crashes with a mod, you'll have better luck resolving it in this forum section than PMing me. If you already made a topic, be patient about responses. If you have troubles with anything non-Minecraft related on your PC, I might be able to help, though, but no promises. Even though I could wish to be, I'm not a wizard.
tried to run a server but at this time our PC's can't handle a server + client. So im a bit limited on what i can afford/do till i can get a dedicated PC to run the server.

Do you happen to have an old spare computer around somewhere? Otherwise, well... LAN is supposed to work, you shouldn't be forced to go buy a separate computer to use as a server. You also need to ensure that using a server instead of LAN actually works for the computers

i am able to join games normally with out mods via lan
though once forge is in the mix some reason im not able to join open Lan.
The same problem on my GF's pc with open lan.
Don't have any extra/old pc's at this time. Though when i did try to host a server on my pc while using minecraft my GF could connect to it but i could not fully join (load all the way in on my screen though on others they saw me)
i know i need to learn how to fix what ever is causing this because in the future i have two little kids that will wants to game with mommy & daddy.... but we parents love our mods..,
I'm having the same symptoms as you stated: client is stuck on logging in screen but shows up on the host's LAN game. I can reverse the hosting (switch who is running the LAN) and it seems fine.
The problematic hosting system is brand new: Win10, lots of RAM, firewalls on both systems are open for JAVA.
I'd rather host on the new system because it has most system resources (i7-6700 intel, lots of DDR4 ram, etc.). It really could be a mod that is causing the problem I suppose; but man, I really don't want to have to start going through them.
Guess I'll have to.
BTW, I can't scan for LAN games hosted by either system.

Solved it: somehow when I installed Java on the new system I downloaded the 32 bit version. I went and got the 64 bit version of Java for the new system and I can host with it!
I still can't see LAN games though, but doing a direct connect or manually setting up the server with the IP and port number works fine.
Well that was short lived. Similar problems today trying to login from either computer. Didn't really change anything so I'm suspicious of things... things that are under the hood of the netcode.

To OP, my wife and I are having the exact same issue as you are. It appears to be the backpacks mod that is causing the issue for us as we can run Mo Creatures, Voxel map, Archimedes's Ships, Shipwreck and several other mods via LAN with no issue. Once we load the backpacks mod, get stuck at logging into LAN. Try and remove the backpacks mod on both accounts and see you can connect. Hope this helps although it is hell playing without backpacks, especially once you get used to having it.

When i host a game that has Lan open my GF get's stuck at Logging in... and i can see her in game.
This problem only happend when we started to use mods. Also should note no problems happen if we both use non-mod profiles.
If any one has a solution that won't hit up my wallet im all ears.
guessing no has any idea or has had any problems with this O_o
admins might as well kill this thread....
