The only remaining issue is that despite being connected to my hamachi network, I can't find my own server.
On the multiplayer screen it pings for a minute and then... nothing.
This happened on my desktop, so I changed to my laptop which didn't have the issue.
However today I refreshed my laptop so the server would run better, but now it's the same problem.
I can't connect to the server when I host it from either computer. They're both windows 8. The desktop is on java 8, and the laptop is on java 7 (because that makes the server load properly).
I went and hosted an Unturned game on Steam and had my friend try to join, and he connected just fine.
Since my firewall or hamachi isn't the problem, and the server is clearly running, why does minecraft say it doesn't... exist?
Did you set the server ip in properties.txt (or whatever it is now) to your hamachi ip?
Yeah, I figured out that I simply needed to allow Java (TM) SE binary through my computer firewall. However, this only seemed to work on my laptop. I let it through on my desktop and it still doesn't work.
EDIT: Ok, so my friends still can't join even after letting making it public.
So I've trying to get FTB infinity server starting but I've been running into issues.
I made a FTB forum post covering most of this so if you're interested look at this:
