So recently I've tried to get back into playing vanilla Minecraft. However I've been running into a problem with memory. Whenever I play Minecraft, I can play with decent performance. I can play for about 5-10 minutes at 60 fps with occasional lag spikes that last about half a second. After that, I will start getting like 10 fps until the game crashes saying that the game ran out of memory. My PC only has 4 GB of RAM installed but I have been playing Minecraft in it for years without an issue. I also play tons of other games on the same PC and have had no problems. I opened up task manager while I had the game running and my memory usage slowly crawls up to about 3.5 GB and that is where I start experiencing the extreme lag. It isn't world specific, I have the latest version of 64 bit java installed, and I have 2 GB of memory allocated to the game.
