My boy has been having issues with his single player worlds recently. He gets in for about 10 minutes and then it starts to get so choppy he gives up. I am guessing this is an issue with frame rate. Multiplayer games with many people are perfectly fine, not a single issue. Please let me know if you need any data I have not provided below. Any thoughts and suggestions are welcome, thanks in advanced.
Computer:
OS: Win 7 Pro x64 (Updates are current)
CPU: AMD FX-8350 8-Core Blk Edition 4GHz
RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1866
Video: 2GB Radeon HD 7870 'GHz Edition' PCIe3x16 (Drivers are current)
Java: Most current available installation for x64 Win7 from Oracle
Minecraft: Up-To-Date Vanilla client and game.
Additional information:
We are running AMD's Raptr software to optimize our installed games video settings, including Minecraft. (Seemed a bit glitchy to get to actually optimize Minecraft though and it only tweaks a small subset of the options) My boy did manually turn down the max framerate trying to make his issue better, it didn't help.

You could reduce Render distance to more reasonable value, like 16 for example, most of servers use default of 10.
Sometimes it may help to turn off VBO's.
