Before I start, this is connection lag, not game lag. I get a solid 50-60 FPS the majority of the time, so that's not the problem. The problem is, I get constant connection lag on every server I join. So I join a server, and there's no lag for about a second, and then it starts lagging like crazy. And I can't do anything when it lags. When I type it takes about 10 seconds for the message to appear, whenever I move I get teleported back to my original spot, and other players on my screen don't move. After about maybe a minute or so, I get kicked from the server.
I'm pretty sure this has nothing to do with my laptop, its performance, or Java. If it did, the lag would be FPS lag and not connection lag. It's not the servers I join either. Every server I join does this. All this bullcrap started when we bought a new router. I don't know if our internet got worse, or if the new router screwed everything up. I really don't know.
If anyone could help, or give some advice, that would be great. I would really like to be able to play Minecraft again.

Thanks.
well, if it started with new router, then it is pretty much obvious what you need to change ...
Yes, but that's not exactly something I can change.
