Try restarting your computer the icon in the corner(Where the wifi usually is) means that you are offline I have that issue with the wifi occasionally. Have you bought a minecraft account? As well. Let me know if that doesn't work I will try to figure it out. You can play minecraft offline but I don't think you can on the first login.
