So I usually play with the most recent version of minecraft (in this case, 1.8.7), but I've noticed that when using forge with magic launcher, the menu screen displays minecraft as version 1.8. So does that mean minecraft is actually running on version 1.8, or is it running on 1.8.7, or is there something else?

Why dont you download forge 1.7.10?
