I just reloaded my son's linux pc back to windows, and we are trying to re-install minecraft, and it is crashing. Following the fix it notes, we tried updating the video drivers (they are current) and doing the auto and manual fixes suggested, to no avail. The next steps directed us to post the dxdiag results, which can be found here: http://paste.ubuntu.com/11760321/
This same hardware worked great in linux. Thanks for your help from a couple noobs...
(By the way, nice machine name "Machine name: BASEMENT"
:P)
That guide is rubbish sorry, the only way to fix this issue is to get the official manufactures drivers from their website (AMD, Nvidia, Intel), using windows to update the drivers will get microsoft drivers which do not support opengl to the level minecraft needs.
If you read the dxdiag log you would see the computer is already using windows drivers, hence why minecraft won't run

Your computers GPU is not supported on windows 7, AMD have only supported it in windows vista and XP, you will need to return the computer to its original windows version for minecraft to work
