So every time I go on any server, i either get Disconnected, Timed out, IOException: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host. or any other sort of error message that kicks me out.
It happens every 5-10 minutes or so. It will lag for about a minute until it crashes and i get any of the above messages
And it happens on EVERY server i go on. its wicked frustrating.
no one else has this problem, no other players, none of my friends
This is a new laptop (refurbished) so it shouldn't be a problem???
It only happens at my house/internet, yet my desktop plays minecraft just fine
it will start to lag, then glitch, then kick me out, sometimes i can get back in, sometimes i have to restart minecraft
Also, if i die, it wont let me respawn, I have to go to title screen, then log back into the server/world
I tried:
updating java,
getting rid of old versions of java,
checking my graphics card
uninstalling and reinstalling minecraft
restarting my computer after each of these tries^
scanned my computer for virus' multiple times(Its come up clean every time)
Sorry for the late reply, that would be awesome, a lot of my friends say its just slow internet connection, i've tried letting my laptop cool off when it over heats, if i unplug it, it starts lagging so much its unplayable probably goes down to about 3FPS

At this point you realy should consider spending 20-30 bucks on desktop machine to be your dedicated server. I got me Intel Core2Duo E4500 with MOtherboard and 2 Gigs of RAM for 25 bucks, made a console linux instalation with minimal services, and works just fine.

Is your desktop connected via an ethernet cable, to your router/modem? And your laptop, is it conneced through WiFi?
If so, then there's your problem. Your WiFi signal is either being obstructed by something, or just very weak.
Also, could you go to speedtest.net (once on your desktop, and once on your laptop), and post back the results here?

Well that's... odd. Your speed is actually faster on the laptop.
Those are still very slow speeds, which could be causing the problem.
Sometime soon (tomorrow for me), could we possibly have you connect to a server I'll set up, so I can see what appears in the logs?
