I got a new computer and installed minecraft. Minecraft worked for about 6 months till i stopped playing for a month. I launched the launcher and it kept closing on me. I unistalled minecraft and re installed. Whenever i opened the launcher it said. Unable to start the Minecraft Runtime Enviroment. This is most likely caused by a corruption. PLease try to re install minecraft. And i did 10 times. No Luck. I also have no folder from minecraft and they were deleted,
I do have the files but only with one thing in it called. Launcher and its java
The Minecraft Launcher may be launching Minecraft with an outdated version of Java that no longer exists on your computer. Try this: Start the Minecraft Launcher, then click "Edit Profile", then go to "Executable", then make sure it says "jre1.8.0_45" somewhere in the text.
I kept getting the same message installing on my laptop with Windows 7 64-bit using the msi installer and the exe.Tried reinstalling, etc. Finally looked at the "nativelog.txt" file in in minecraft folder, at the bottom it said something like "Couldn't move .\runtime\jre-x64\1.8.0_25_tmp to .\runtime\jre-x64\1.8.0_25". I copied the folder manually and renamed it, everything works fine now. Hope this helps.

This kind of thing can be caused by antivirus software. While it is scanning the files that prevents them from being moved.
