At one point I used Ubuntu to run Minecraft 1.8.1 on 2.8Ghz and 128MB of video memory (Lenovo/IBM Thinkcentre). I could load 10 chunks with ease. Now I've goa 2.0 Ghz dual core with 1.77GB of video memory on Windows 7 and I get a ton of lag, framerate jumps in strange places, and lag freezes when loading chunks. Even on a 3.2Ghz dual core with Windows 7 and a 256MB video card I got about 15 frames and could only load 2 chunks. Is there something wrong with Windows 7, and is forfeiting Windows 7, Skyrim, Need For Speed, Halo, Oblivion, GTA:IV, Fallout 2, Borderlands, Half Life, Portal, Portal 2, and a ton of other games that seem to run fine on my current Windows install worth getting Ubuntu for Minecraft? I understand that I can partition, but I don't want to deal with Ubuntu's GRUB2. I already had an issue with that on this machine and Android x64 (Android runs on a modified Linux kernel). Do I need a Java update? I haven't been pestered on this machine for a Java update since 2013. Version 8, update 40 is my current one. I ran the 'About Java' program.

A wild opinion appeared! Everybody freak out and start insulting each other because you don't agree with it!
It's already off. I tried changing mipmap levels, reducing mipmap number seems to help a little. It's set to 2 right now. I mean, my Samsung Galaxy S Blaze gets a higher framerate than my PC even when it's underclocked!

I would but I would prefer a -far- render distance. I figured out part of the problem, my Windows install had a virus (no surprise, Linux doesn't get viruses) that tricked Windows into thinking I only had one core. I have 2. It made a huge difference.
