Me and my brother like to play on Minecraft with each other on LAN worlds. One day, I was playing, and getting a bit of lag, so I decided to restart my game. Upon relaunching, my lag was fixed, but my brother could no longer connect to me and was given the error message of "java.net:ConnectException:connection refused: no further information:" and that was about 3 weeks ago. We still are unable to connect to each other. I have tried completely turning off my firewall, updating java for both computers, etc. and no luck. Any help for this issue? Any ideas are welcome. I just really want this to be fixed, as it gets boring only being able to play singleplayer, or a server that's not as fun as just me and my brother on our own world.

U both install Hamachi; i think its the only way, because u were previously playing on LAN, but it crashed.
●To install hamachi, go to secure.logmein.com and search for Hamachi;
•download and install it;
•then create a network on Hamachi;
•give the IP to ur bro;
•he will connect to it;
●then NEXT:
•look at your Hamachi IP: it should be like X.XXX.XXX.XX:XXXXX
•the part that where are talking about is the part BEFORE the ":"
•now, you host your world you r playing in, and it will say: GAME HOSTED ON PORT XXXXX
●And now? You grab the part before the ":", and then u add the XXXXX (number of the port) after the ":"
•E.g: ur Hamachi number is 25.367.163.23: anything else that we dont want
•Your port number is 70936
•your server IP will be 25.367.163.23:70936
I really hope this helps

I did, but it started doing this when we were using mods. So I looked in the modded support, no one answered. Then we tried in vanilla 1.8, no luck.
Edit: I tried it with Hamachi, and it gave the exact same error as before
I wish I saw your post earlier but installing Hamachi simply to play Minecraft on LAN is not a good answer to your issue. Hamachi might cause some other issues with your computer's internet traffic but that's neither here nor there. Good luck uninstalling it.
As to your issue, make sure your brother is trying to connect to you with your IP address that your router assigned to you. You can find this on a Windows system by opening cmd.exe and typing in:
ipconfig
You should get a response from your system that details information relating to your IP configuration. One line in particular is the IP address you probably want to use which is found under the "Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection" heading and looks something like this:
IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.2
The IP address is found on the right side of the colon and will likely be different than the one I posted. Have your brother try to connect to you with that address. Note that this only works if you both are under the same physical subnet (meaning you are both directly under the same router).

Try to backup your world, uninstall the mods and reinstall Minecraft (or try to install Minecraft-server-1.8.7.exe). Maybe these mods made the Minecraft mad

We've tried direct connect and everything I can think of, it won't connect.

I just posted this in another topic. We had this issue connecting a WIN 7 to Win 8/8.1 computers and it turned out to be that the Win 7 was set to public networks while the others were private. Microsoft security blocked the LAN connection between the two until all were set to private. Not sure if this is your issue but was ours.

Just out of curiosity; are you sure that both are using the exact same mods including versions? It is just like connecting to a server and if there is mod mismatch it will refuse or fail to connect.

This is a topic were they created a rule to allow connection to the public network; we just made sure that all ours were set to private. http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/support/unmodified-minecraft-client/1868373-java-net-connectexception-connection-timed-out-no This picture shows where to look.
I tried this for both computers at once, same message. I seriously am starting to doubt there's a solution to this...
