Me and my brother often times play on Minecraft with a few mods installed, and it always worked just fine. Then, one day, my game was lagging a bit, so I reopened it. I was playing with my brother literally a few seconds before I closed Minecraft. When I reopened it, Neither I nor my brother could connect to each other. It literally worked 10 minutes before, the only thing that changed was I closed Minecraft. Now, it just says "java.net.ConnectException: connection refused: no further information:" when I try to join my brother or he tries to join me. I just closed and reopened it, and now, we can't play together. I even tried making a port-forwarded server to play on, and still the same message for the other one, but not me. Any help?
I've tried reopening mine and my brother's game many times, updating the java, checking to make sure we have the same version of all the same mods installed, etc.
The exact same thing happens when I play vanilla on 1.8.7 with him.

I also am having issues and was hoping to find solution. We could play previously and now Lan refuses to work
we tried with IP:lanserver and just IP neither works :'(
I hate to say this, but LAN actually randomly started working again today.
