It seems this is a new bug or I suck at googling, but my minecraft is all of a sudden freezing, and I don't mean in the normal way.
Normal way = Everything lags. You, pigs, cows, creepers, everything. It all stops and/or gets sent back in time. This I call lag.
New way = no lag. Everything is moving but not you. Other players are fine, creepers still creeping up on you and pigs still a runnin around. Only, you can't move and not just for a sec, but upwards of 5 min. to the point you log off and back on, or wish you could.... because nothing works, including the esc button. This means you have to watch as you die or everything moves around you.
It's like the keyboard somehow gets cut off but the mouse is fine. You can look around. You can mine and even hit other players and switch blocks. But no buttons work, making it so you can't even esc the game. CTRL + ALT + DEL doesn't even work.
This I don't call lag. I call it crashed.
And one last thing that started happening. Minecraft now becomes unresponsive, as in windows says the program is not responding. This happens when we resize the window or click out of minecraft (say to chrome, etc). It has actually crashed and closed on my friend to the point it wouldn't let her play at all. For me though, it just stops responding then a min. later I can play.
Now before the 1.8.7 update, I never had a problem. Minecraft has always worked fine. But now it freezes me every time I play and stops responding simply cause I clicked out of the program..
This was noticed when my server was updated to use the latest ver of minecraft.
The server allowed minecraft 5G of memory, so it's not a "not enough memory issue"
The server says everything is fine. No errors are logged or shown. Not even during a freeze.
This exact same problem is experienced regularly by ALL players on the server. So it's not my client causing the issue. It also doesn't happen to all players at the same time (it happens randomly for each player, but happens to everyone constantly).
To get rid of the problem we switched to a minecraft realm, one we had been using before but had recently become unactivated. This issue did not arise on the realm anytime before 1.8.7, so we thought the server was the issue and switched back to the realm.
The realm immediately had the same issue. Today it started happening so regularly and so long, I had to exit minecraft and restart.
I upped the memory from 1G to 5G on my client (playing on the realm still) and it helped (the issue continued but I didn't have to exit minecraft to get it to respond) but then I started actually lagging a little.
The chunk updates is very low when the issue arises. Think 0 to 8. But when the game runs fine, that number jumps between 10 an 55 with no errors or lag. So it's backwards from what google suggests (it freezes on low chunk up[date numbers and runs fine with high numbers). This is the same result other players have on the same server.
My cpu usage is not an issue either, as it runs bellow 15% and usually only 10% when minecraft is running (15 to 20% with minecraft and a server running on the same computer).
This has never happened before the 1.8.7 update and everything described here happens across all players (we all use the latest ver of minecraft).
Similar issue, myself. Vanilla MC, only using Optifine, completely freezes at random moments, to the point where I have to force close the game and then restart it. Happens every time, not on startup, just in the middle of doing anything, and it only started happening in 1.8.7.

Background info:

What can we do to fix this? Why is this even happening and are we the only ones experiencing this?
Thanks.

it's something with java as far as I know. All you can do is use an older version and deal with the minor bugs...
Can someone tell me how to fix this?
