i have version 1.8 forge... i'm not sure weather its installed, client or whatnot but when i play minecraft it has the mods option and i click it and it shows three forge mods on the list... i'm on the forge profile but when i put a 1.8 mod in the folder and relaunch and play minecraft, it doesn't have anything new. i made sure the mods are actually mods and not corrupt or anything, and i tried one at a time... i've almost given up... any help?
other info:
-i'm trying mods such as bioms o' plenty, animal bikes, customnpcs, etc.
Try re-installing Forge. If that dosen't work, look where's your Minecraft directory and see if the mods are installed in the correct one.
Nojus
i'm reinstalling forge... does it make a difference if its installed as client or server?
edit: i know its client, but it still didn't work.
i'm not sure what you mean by directory, its in the minecrfaft folder -> mods folder.... does the fact that i had to make a mods folder myself affect anything?

-i'm on a mac (does that matter? idk)
-they are all for sure .jar, not .zip
-yes, all the versions are 1.8... i made sure
-no crashing or error messages
if you need any more info let me know

it was a grammatical error. sorry
You have a designated "mods" folder in your .minecraft folder right?
