I turned the graphic settings to "fancy" but the tree leaves are still not transparent. I use optifine so do you think that is causing the problem? It sucks that I can't see transparent leaves even on fancy" graphic settings.
Optifine may very well be at fault; in one of the submenus (I believe details) you can individually toggle between fast/fancy/default (default is whatever is selected for all graphics) for individual features including leaves, sort of like how you can separately toggle cloud rendering in vanilla.

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
