I don't think it's the fact that I have mods installed, but my GPU, NVidia GTX 780 Ti, get's very hot to 75 ~ 85C when I playing Minecraft. That's only 20 ~ 40 minute. I have only Optifine and the Conquest texture installed. I have also allocated 6GB of my 16GB of RAM to Minecraft, I don't think that will affect GPU temperature.
Playing game like PlanetSide 2, GRID 2, and War Thunder get my GPU to maybe 72C. My GPU tend to get hot, as I live in pretty hot place (25 ~ 35C on average) and it doesn't have the best fans in it. I plan to watercool but I don't have the funds right now.
Anyone to know what is causing this? Sorry for English, it's not my first language XD
If your fans don't work well, of course your GPU will be hot. You could try MSI Afterburner and customize the curve of when your fans start spinning up.
Also, you do not need to allocate 6GB to Minecraft. For the most recent large modpacks, 2-3GB should be plenty. If you're just using Optifine and a resource pack, 1GB should be plenty.

I know I do not, but I have the RAM to spare. My GPU fans not working well is not the problem though. I play graphic heavier games and they still do not get hotter than minecraft! D:
I don't know whats causing this, but with my old laptop I used to put damp paper towels in the fridge for about 5-10 minutes, and then I put them under the computer. You could also try freezer packs. See if that helps.
This is very odd for a new nvidia card. You shouldn't have to get liquid cooling for stock clock, especially for a GPU. You may want to RMA the card, for it might have a defective fan/temp control. Nvidia's sight has live chat support, so you can hop on there and see what they have to say.
5.-careful with the overheating in your pc... at some point,it may even shutdown your pc without any warning...
6.-probably something with the hardware...
7.-may be a weird configuration on your graphic card when running java ( probably this one )
-check your 3d settings on the nvidia control panel
1) What about my Jaba versiozn?
2) Yes, without any mods. Same things happens
3) Fan speed says they're normal but there feels like no different from 400 RPM to 1200rpm
4) My computer was build February this year by me
5) Yes
6) I don;t understand....
7) What will happen?
What will I do with my 3D settings?

When was the last time you cleaned your fans out?

I clean my entire computer every 2 week.
probably has to do with:
1.-java version
2.-did u tried without any mods ._. ?
3.-bios... try adjusting the fans speed on it...
4.-old pc? do u play minecraft with shaders ._. ?
