i just downloaded minecraft again after 2 years and i put the right email and PW into the launcher, and at the bottom it has the green bar going all the way across over and over and all, but it never actually launches the game, what do i do?
ok i think i figured out my problem, i downloaded minecraft from the site it self but it didnt give me the latest version, just 1.6.11 so how do i update?
oh i thought the launcher update and the minecraft update were the same. but i cant get to that tab, i cant log in at all. this is all i see, it just loads forever at the bottom and never lets me in. it doesnt say wrong password or anything. it just goes on forever..
So the problem is you can't log in. It hasn't even tried to download the game because it doesn't know which version you are going to want to play (latest release is the default, but it doesn't know you are going to use the default).

Without some kind of error message it's hard to say what the problem is. That screen will display errors if they happen..
i just downloaded it yesterday so it should be set to the default one. if i cant log in then i dont know what to do. i already googled the issue a day before i posted this and i found no one with the same problem so either im the only one who is having this problem or people figured it out on their own so didnt bother posting anything, but either way, its no where.
i could try logging in with my mojang account instead but i dont know if that will help

i have tried reinstalling it to, i actually did it like 3 times, i messed with NOTHING in the .mincecraft folder and it still doesnt work

alright you can ignore this now. i asked my dad and he managed to figure it out. i dont know how but i can log in now.
Wait i have the same problem can you ask your dad how he did it?
instead of using the Minecraft.EXE just find the launcher (Should look something like this) and log in with that instead.
I dont have that on my computer do you have a mac?
uh i think i fixed it I went to my downloads folder and launched it from there hold on............. YES AFTER 6 MONTHS IT WORKS UMG
