So, I recently factory reset my computer, and ever since then Minecraft has been extremely laggy, with regular spikes within second of each other. The computer is somewhat old, but worked fine before the reset and ran MC just fine. Based on these conditions I assume it's something that I no longer have installed that was helping before. I never used Optifine (and have no clue how to, it has never worked for me) or any other mods whatsoever. I was able to run MC with any graphical settings or other in-game options set however I like, except for maybe render distance.
I have all of the Windows updates and everything else it made me it get when I reset.
Any suggestions on what basic pc programs I might have had before that helped with performance?
I found a site that took em to the website of the makers of my graphics card. It gave me a program that told me what the latest drivers were and allowed em to download them.

Thanks so much, in advance.
I couldn't find anything on processor drivers, but I did get suggested graphics drivers. Seems like nothings working yet.

Did you accidentally switch from using 64bit Java to 32bit during your reset?
That and video drivers are the two things I'd suspect.
