I used run at around 250 - 300 FPS (Without optifine) (I usually had it locked at 65 though.) but recently (Last week) it dropped to being around 4 - 15 FPS. (Sometimes it got bumped up to 40 for a couple seconds, if I got lucky.)
I've installed Optifine, didn't help at all.
Restarted my PC many times, no difference.
I even reinstalled Minecraft around 5 times.
Anyone know how to fix this?
SPECS:
Processor - Intel Core i7-4700MQ CPU @ 2.40GHz
Ram - 16 GB
64-bit OS, x64 processor.
OS - Windows 8.1
Storage - Around 700 GB of internal storage, 1 TB external.
Graphics Card - NVIDIA PhysX Geforce GTX 765M
Integrated Graphics - Intel HD Graphics 4600
UPDATE: I'm now running at around 30 - 35 FPS. I still would like it to run faster because I'm a greedy scrub.
Kidding, but really, it's now around 32 FPS, why has it suddenly dropped?
Processor: Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4210M CPU @ 2.60GHz, 2601 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)
RAM- 8 GB
64 bit OS (Windows 10/8.1)
Hard Drive: Well over 200 GB remaining
Graphics: Nvidia Geoforce 820M (2GB)/Intel HD 4600
I usually run at 100-200 fps, 150-250 with optifine, and 30-50 with realistic shaders. Now I get 30-40 naturally, 40-80 with optifine, and 1-10 with realistic shaders.
I didn't change anything since the lag started. I really didn't.
Maybe try updating your drivers? I'll be watching this thread.

With a lot of laptops when you unplug them the brightness goes down. Maybe your brightness was up really high and putting pressure on your cpu or something.
Have you tried changing your power plan to high performance? If its on power saver, your dedicated gpu is disabled or throttled.

Anyone else have this / know how to fix it?

I fiIt fixed after unplugging my laptop.
Odd..
Maybe a a graphics problem?
What? You just unplugged it? Did you plug it back in after?

We're having bad rain / thunder and lightning so I unplugged it so it wouldn't short out. I didn't plug it back in yet though.
If you have a surge protector, then you don't have anything to worry about. Trying your solution now, will report soon.
UPDATE: A no-go for me, unplugging cut my frame rate in half.
