I deleted all Java versions and reinstalled Java 8 Update 45.
I deleted both minecraft folders (appdata and program files(x86))
It attempts a 40MB download and appears to complete.
Then, it starts a 3.88MB download and gets about half way through. The progress bar goes blank for a few seconds, then the message box pops up behind the progress window.
I have tried deleting Java and everything Minecraft several times (including a RegEdit search for 'minecraft').
Why won't this install?
