So basically, I have updated my java to the newest version. (Java 8, Update 45). But, I can't get minecraft to use it! In the little profile editor thing it says this: /System/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/1.6.0.jdk/Contents/Home/bin/
I want it to be using the latest java version, I updated java just now, but Minecraft isn't automatically using it, any ideas?

Under "Java Settings", check "Executable" and change the path to where your JRE is stored.
Alternatively, uninstall Java 6.
Thank you, changing the patching seemed to fix the problem.
