I am new to this as of 2 days ago 5/19/2015 I'm trying to use mcpatcher for mods with 1.8 and it isn't working. I was using forge and the mods tab showed up in the pregame menu but when I installed optifine I wasn't getting connected textures (on) for use with the conquest mod pack. When I add modloader to mcpatcher it won't let me run minecraft either. Without modloader I can run minecraft while having the mods installed but there isn't a mods "tab" on the pre-game start menu.
The mods I am trying to use are:
joypad mod
brazier mod
mega decorations pack
optifine
Forge isn't allowing me to use connected textures modloader isn't allowing me to play the game and converting forge into .zip to load into mcpatcher didn't work either. Everything I've found related to my problems involves deleting meta.inf which doesn't seem to exist in my .minecraft files or was posted 3 years ago. I've loaded modloader/forge (seperately) into mcpatcher then patched before trying to load mods and nothing is working so far. Please help.
That's kinda the conclusion I got from all this. Like I said I've been playing for 2 days on the pc now there's a lot that I don't know yet. It seems like I have everything up and running and figured out now. Mcpatcher's function is to patch mods to ensure functionality though isn't it? Like to function actively together? Otherwise what is the point of it?
MCPatcher's main functionality is to allow higher res texture packs, which I think are available in vanilla now. Forge or whatever modloader you have is responsible for compatibility.
