First of all, I'm talking about lag, not fps-my frames per second are perfectly fine. I played on a server on 1.7.10, and the game didn't freeze at all with a constant 30-70 fps. Then, when I got on the same server on 1.8, I keep getting these constant lag spikes. My fps stays the same and usually goes up when the lag spike occurs, (which is almost all of the time...), and when it does all of the players freeze, I get that delayed fall damage, and I can't open chests, etc... You know what I'm talking about (almost identical to the same lag spikes you would get if you had bad internet connection.) I don't play on fullscreen and I am in fact using Optifine (Optifine 1.8.4-HD_U_D4) ... Here are my settings: http://imgur.com/a/bs017
Does anybody have a solution??? I've tried it with VBOs on and off, no change occured. Since all of the servers updated to 1.8, it is very difficult to play. If you guys could help me it would be very much appreciated. Thanks!
Post your system specs, but I suspect you have the same issue i did...Minecraft in 1.8 became more CPU based, reducing performance on PCs with old CPUs...look up JVM arguments to allocate more RAM and hope for the best.
The way minecraft runs was changed, so maybe the server can't handle it anymore. Either that or your internet just happened to get worse during the switch.

Yes, but 1.8 runs perfectly fine on survival, which usually lags even more then servers? I ONLY get this lag when I play on multiplayer.
