Based on this post how would one know she has an Intel 4 GPU? You can't. That being said I now see this had been an on-going issue and the Intel Series 4 thing. So yeah, there's not much that CAN be done, especially on a laptop. Which is a shame since the thing is only a few years old.

Your computer is too old to run minecraft 1.7.4 and newer
