It has been happening for months now, and I am getting really tired of it. I have set minecraft's allocated ram to 3 gigabytes, and it runs at 10 fps unless I put my render distance on 4 or less chunks. I normally use a computer with a good graphics card and 6 gigs of ram. I have another one with an built-in intel graphics card and 24 gigabytes of ram. The 24 gigabyte one has minecraft stay under 5 fps, and it is unplayable even at the lowest render distance. Not only that, it won't let me allocate more than one gigabyte of ram on it. I have tried changing the video settings (it didn't work) and also the RAM (also didn't work). Also, if you tell me that it is the graphics card, please provide a solution. Before 1.8 both computers ran minecraft at a straight 60 FPS. If you are here to complain about the lag issue, don't comment about it, no one wants that.

If it won't let you allocate more than one GB of ram, then you might have Java 32 bit. Try upgrading to Java 64 bit.
Also, have you thought about getting OptiFine? Or do you want just Vanilla?

The 1G problem is almost certainly 32bit Java.
Post the exact options you are using with the 3G situation, and post an F3 screenshot in game.
