Hello, I've been trying to get mods to work for a while now, I have had them work before but I haven't played minecraft in a few months so some things did update when I tried to open it. Took forever and several tries for it to update to 1.8.4. Updated Java and Forge too but that was all in the process of getting my mods to work again. I know you're supposed to make sure everything is the same version, use forge 7.10 and the mods version 7.10 which is what I did but they still weren't working so I updated everything I could think of and they still wont work! Here's my mods:
Forge - 1.8 (Updated) ((I know to change it in the edit profile thing to 1.7.10))
Minions - 1.7.10 (This worked in the past)
Paleocraft - 1.7.10 (NEVER got this to work in the past but I've been trying to get it to work D,:)
Java - version 8 (Updated)
Reis Minimap - 1.7.10 (This worked before)
I've tried Optifine though I don't really know what it is or what it does, I was just following a tutorial that had this in it so I have the latest version of that installed too .-.
So, I don't know how many freaking tutorials on how to fix minecraft mods not working but I can't get them to work for the life of me and it's REALLY frustrating. I've even tried putting them in the folder as a .zip file and then as their .jar files and neither way worked. I really hate going on forums and asking for help but that's what it's come down to v_v; If you need me to provide a crash report (Though it's not been crashing at all) or my computer's specs I'd be happy to provide them. Oh and the only mods that show up when I open the game and click the button that says "Mods" is "Minecraft Coder Pack", "Forge Mod Loader" and "Minecraft Forge" No matter what the heck I try, I can't get the others to show up.

No forge exists for 1.8.4? And if all of those mods are 1.7.10, you do have to use 1.7.10 and updating everything will just break it more. There are only a very few exceptions where mods will work on a different version. We need that original error from when it was in 1.7.10. You didn't install optifine into the forge profiles .jar right? If so, theres a separate version of optifine required for forge. Also, are you using firefox, because firefox does like to mess with the file extensions of downloads.
I just clicked on the top one, downloaded it and opened it. It installed itself just like forge does when you install that one .-. Like I said, I only installed optifine because of one of the tutorials. Not all of them required it, just that one that I found so I dunno what it's for, I've never had to use it before.
It just goes up to 1.8, no farther yet. But I've gotten it to work before like that, I just open minecraft, go into the profile and change the version it uses for the game and I go to the one that says "release 1.7.10 Forge10.13.2.1230"
Minions is the only one that is updated with 1.8. Not sure about the minimap one because I forgot to check if that one updated or not. The paleocraft one only goes to 1.7.10 so I wanted to keep the others at that same level so I could use them all together.
Okay so, I have no idea what I did differently but now they're working .-. I didn't change anything in the profile or anything but when I went to take the screenshots I started my game up and just decided to try it again and they're working. Well... minions and the mini map are working but the paleocraft one isn't. Still. I guess that's good enough. I want to play the freaking dinosaur thing but if minecraft is being temperamental I guess I can deal with it

I'm using google chrome, I don't like firefox or internet explorer.
I downloaded optifine from here: http://optifine.net/downloads
