My laptop is well compatible with Minecraft, as it ran just fine with Windows 7, and this is the latest graphics driver I can get. Is it a problem with OpenGL? DirectX? Strange thing is, in the crash report it says for the OS Version: Windows 8.1. What's the problem here? How do I fix it?
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo T7250 @ 2 GHz (Dual-Core)
RAM: 4 GB DDR3 (2x2GB) PC3-10700 (667 MHz)
Graphics: Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family
Modded: None. Couldn't get any mods to run when using Windows 7, haven't even tried when downloading Minecraft on Windows 10.
That should be well more than enough information & data to at least help identify and/or fix the problem. I Attached a screenshot with some information as well. Please assist me. Thanks in Advance!
Have you tried installing the Windows 7 drivers, straight from the Intel site instead of Windows Update, under Windows 10 Preview?
By the way, if it works it will only be a temporary fix as your GPU doesn't support OpenGL 2.1, which will be required probably starting in Minecraft 1.9 due to the replacement of fixed-function with GLSL 1.20.
This brings up another possibility and a fix though - assuming you were playing 1.7.4 or later under Windows 7 - which was likely because your computer was using a dedicated GPU with the OpenGL support required; in order to fix this you'll have to go into your graphics card control panel and enable the high-performance GPU (or similar; here are some instructions); this is actually a pretty common issue on laptop computers and even desktops as many CPUs have their own (limited) graphics built-in and often use it when nonintensive applications are running, but don't detect that Minecraft requires a better GPU (an issue particularly since 1.6, or rather, the new launcher that came with it).
Well, I've run v1.8.4 very smooth and fast under Windows 7, especially since I upgraded My RAM and CPU. Heck, I can still play just great under Windows 7, on the other hard drive partition. I just thought that since I'll be getting to know Windows 10, and building apps and such for Windows 10, why not play Minecraft every now and then, yet it crashes under 10.
So I just bought MineCraft running an older HP Pavilion with Intel ChipSet Express 4 Family (32 bit) Running Windows 8.1... Took me 2 hours to figure it out lol BUT its very simple... All I did was go to device manager - display drivers and uninstall the chipset driver (which pulls the resolution into basic mode)... Next go to your manufacturers website (in my case it was HP)... Run the discover driver utility... Next download the driver (this will not be an updated driver and also these updates are coming from microsoft because intel doesn't support this chipset anymore.., so make sure to turn off auto windows updates also... So this driver will be a version (8.15.10.****) in my case it was chipset 4 driver 8.15.10.1883 (for 32 bit)... Then confirm install and restart... Now MineCraft is able to run on Windows 8 and 10!!! It is funny because this driver is supported by Windows 7 and newer updates of this ChipSet will not support opengl which I find odd that the older driver works yet the newer one's don't but that's microsoft for ya.., lol...
Hope this helps!
P.S. You dont need a dedicated gfx card to run MineCraft
I'm running PCMCv1.8.7 right now in Windows 7 without any problems.

Moderatorto run minecraft on your laptop you need the latest intel GPU drivers, and your GPU is only supported by intel upto windows 7.
so to play minecraft on your laptop you will only be able to use windows 7, 8 and newer will not work

I'm surprised you could play at all under Windows 7, as the Intel 4 Series chipset is unable to run any version since 1.7.4.

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?

Does the revision number of 7 mean it's a better version or renewed version of the Mobile Intel 4 Series Chipset?

If you have questions about the maps I post as attachments or Amidst and the like read this thread:
Using Amidst type programs to map and research Seeds
The latest release of Amidst, version 4.3-beta5 can be found here:

You should probably also read this:

Mine won't start up either. I really don't know why! I log on fine, I go into a world wanting to try out 1.9, but it won't work for me.
