My MC was running just fine til about a month ago, and it's annoyed me to a point I can't find any info on it.
I have 32 gigs of RAM, and I allocated 10 gigs to MC just to see if it'd do anything. That did nothing.
I have a 780 TI graphics card and run many games like butter. I even get 100+ FPS on MC until it randomly tanks to 0 FPS for a second or two.
This occurs without moving as well as moving.
Flying around eventually leads the game to slowing down more and more til it freezes up and needs to be restarted.
I have an i7-4790K CPU 4GHZ
I've tried fresh MC install.
I've tried Optifine.
I've tried reinstalling Java.
I've restarted my computer a couple times.
I updated windows.
I've changed quality settings high and low.
I monitored my GPU load and it's perfectly fine.

Haha, I did not try going down to 7. I have been using 8 before this problem occurred though. Drivers were the same too. This problem just kinda.. started... and I don't know why.
@Hardrive thing, *Shrugs* I just have two SSDs and keep Minecraft on one of them.

This problem is still happening after everything I've been able to try on google. My game is fine, but even standing still not moving the camera it'll freeze for a second or two and unfreeze. Random intervals, progressively getting worse.

You aren't actually using 10gb of ram now right? Minecraft needs 2 absolute max, probably only 0.5-1.5 gigs, and java can have issues if given too much ram.

Hmm, my GPU and CPU temps seem to be fine. The load on them doesn't go up much either. I was giving MC 10 gigs of RAM, but even when I lowered it it was still doing the weird 1-2 second lag spikes.
They're completely random as well. If I'm typing sometimes it'll freeze, and sometimes it sends the message 1-3 times. I'm not sure what it may be at this point.

And I just tested. It happens on single player too. Sigh. I have no idea what to try next.
I can run any other game without problem. But Minecraft? No matter what I update, reinstall, etc. It still does this 2-3 second lag skip and it's driving me insane. It makes doing anything risky impossible.

On d instal or install JAVA be sure:
- Don't mix 32 and 64 Bit Version.
- Always make an reboot after d install or install JAVA.
- Best results are with one Version of Java. Stay at only 7 or 8 Java.

I'm going insane. This problem is still existing and I've tried every single thing I've googled. Fresh installs of everything, PC restarts, Internet restarts, GPU monitoring, CPU monitoring, every amount of RAM allocation, all graphical settings fixes.
Every other game on my PC runs butter smooth with my setup, but MC suddenly is now doing this problem online and offline.

I'm running MC on my 840 EVO SSD
Your HDD/SSD has no effect on Minecraft when it's running...

@TheMCPCGamer SSDs help with chunk loading, although they are easily bottlenecked by the CPU, RAM, or Graphics.
@DraoNz0rz Check your CPU and GPU load and temperature

Server or singleplayer?
I have not tested on single player. Only server so far. I should probably test single player.
Hmm...that's weird. Maybe its the server.

Sorry for the far late reply. I have been busy and forgot about this since I haven't been on MC.
I did fresh reinstall of Java 8 64 bit and did a reboot. The issue still exists.
