I had the same problem. Search every where online and tried every thing. Nothing worked!
Then I found the solution!! You need to REMOVE JAVA from your computer COMPLETELY.
STEPS:
Go to CONTROL PANEL --> PROGRAMS UNINSTALL --> JAVA (uninstall Java)
Go to C:/Program Files/Java (delete Java folder)
Go to C:/Users/Java (delete Java folder)
MAKE SURE EVERY SINGLE JAVA FOLDER IS DELETED!!!
Now, DELETE MINECRAFT!!
Go to CONTROL PANEL --> PROGRAMS UNINSTALL --> Minecraft
Go to DESKTOP --> in search bar type %appdata% --> Delete Minecraft Folder
Go to C:/Program Files/minecraft (delete minecraft folder)
Now go to Minecraft website and reinstall latest version of Minecraft 1.8.4.
Launch and it will work fine. DO NOT INSTALL JAVA!!!
If Java is not on your computer, Minecraft will automatically install a runtime for Minecraft only. You're basically installing Java again anyway with this, which is unnecessary.
