I'm running windows 8 on an asus machine, Just recently downloaded the most recent Java version, and uninstalled old java versions. I have tried to "repair" the installation using the *.msi installer. I have Completely uninstalled and reinstalled using the .msi file.
Every time I try to run minecraft, I get the following error.
Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.
I get this message, even when I run as administrator.

Downloaded Minecraft.exe (had to turn off Kaspersky because it kept calling it a trojan) Seems to be working now.
